Super Secrets For
Catching Some Nice Fish
- Use light line! 4 lb test MAX for most fish.
Listen, when was the last time you actually
caught a 4 lb fish?
- Use the right rod. Light, not ultra-light
graphite.
- SHARPEN HOOKS! A good hookset requires
ultra-sharp hooks. Generally hooks out of the
package are not sharp enough in my humble
opinion. Sharper hooks catch more fish.
- Use small enough hooks. For night crawlers, the
bait should totally hide the hook For minnows the
hook should be small enough to allow the minnow
to swim naturaly.
- Try fly fishing! Believe it or not, most of a
fish's diet is natural flies. When is the last
time you saw a night crawler naturally in a lake?
- Be quiet.
- Hide when stream fishing. Fish have incredible
vision and can see you from below the water
easily.
- Use light sinkers. In a river, use just enough
weight to get the bait to the bottom - no more.
- Fish with nightcrawlers and a single split shot
6" up the line. Deadly for most fish!
- Cast with a jig/grub/spinner combination. Use
white plastic grubs and silver spinners for most
apllications. A 1/4 ounce is too heavy.
- Never underestimate the intelligence of the fish.
You are on their turf!
